SACRAMENTO, California – March 9, 2019, In March, CommGap Business Manager Mai Nou Lor attended the 2019 CHIA conference held this year in Sacramento, California, and later met off-site with CommGap’s regional vendors for food, fun, and networking. The California Healthcare Interpreters Association (CHIA) conference was a three-day event that consisted of networking, exhibits, and over a dozen workshops with topics ranging from translation strategies and quality assurance to ethical decision making in medical interpretation settings. The title of this year’s conference was “Forging the Way to a Gold Standard in Health Equity.” Mai Nou shared the following about the event: “As a representative of CommGap, I had the opportunity to attend the CHIA conference to learn about the importance of continuing education (CE) training for vendors. The medical industry is always changing and expanding, including changes in technology and access. It’s very important for clients to use well-trained vendors, something CommGap has emphasized and provided for years.”
